Biography

Dr. Levari is an Assistant Professor at Brown University, based in the Department of Cognitive & Psychological Sciences (CoPsy) and affiliated with the Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Levari's research spans judgment and decision-making as well as social and cognitive psychology, and tries to understand when help is unhelpful – how people try to assess and improve the performance of themselves and others, and how those efforts often go astray. He uses behavioral laboratory experiments, field studies, and formal computational models to study this topic through several interconnected research questions, including why people often take over tasks when they shouldn’t, why top performers don’t always give better advice, and why performance evaluations can get less accurate as poor performance becomes rare.
