Cognitive and Psychological Sciences

Research

CoPsy conducts interdisciplinary research that spans cognitive processes, perception, developmental science, social and affective neuroscience, behavioral neuroscience, and mental and brain health. Our researchers employ cutting-edge methodologies, including neuroimaging, computational modeling, and experimental psychology, to advance the understanding of mind, brain, and behavior.

We share a belief that transformational advances in understanding mind, brain, and behavior will occur at the boundaries of disciplines, across levels of analysis, and through a diversity of approaches, paradigms, and perspectives. Our interdisciplinary character is captured by this image, which crosses traditional areas with our cross-cutting research themes.
CoPsy department is dedicated to advancing the understanding of mind, brain, and behavior through cutting-edge research and innovative teaching. Our faculty and students actively collaborate across campus, leveraging a wealth of resources to enhance scholarly activities.
Research participation is designed to give you first-hand experience in behavioral research. By participating in research, we hope that you will gain a better understanding of how behavioral research is conducted in the laboratory and how it works from the point of view of the participant. By serving as a participant, you contribute to advancing our scientific understanding of mind, brain and behavior.
Housed in the fully-renovated and historic 36,000 square-foot Metcalf Research Building on Brown's main campus, CoPsy features state-of-the art laboratories, classrooms and formal and informal meeting spaces.
